[BH 6/n] Summer review, la rentrée est proche
Writing ad-lib this morning after some wonderful and sometimes overwhelming summer fun.
- meditation retreat - mixed ultimately insightful if not clarifying 🧘🏼♂️
- great early summer 7am-11am “do outdoor chores” routine 👨🏼🌾
- no Aircon in the car unless it’s a long journey
- main Aircon at 27 or 30 (was 21 last year)
- (with hindsight) ENT troubles 😩
- girls have been off
- no more 5h30 wake up 🥳🙏🏼
- morning 7-11 routine dropped, too hot 🥵
- helped a mate move home (in the heat of summer!)
- started smoking again 🤷🏼♂️
- had a weekend camping in Catalonia 🏕️
- friends have stayed for 10 days 🥳
- sleep average bombs from 8h30 to 6h
- girls have gone to England
- mega focus to complete Data Science and Big Data modules, only ML left 🤓
- spare time included looking at the double split experiment again - this time from 1964 Freyman lecture - significant change in my opinion of what it means. 🤓
- Sophie and I have gone hiking for 5 days ⛰️🏔️🗻
- quit smoking again ✌🏼
- Bath mini-reunion (needs to happen again) 😅
- 2 nights in the UK to see close and bonus families whilst picking up the girls ❤️
- final year project review looks like my intentions are taking better shape 🤓
- ramped up activity via Big McGill 3 and walking 💪🏼
- got the right kit to deal with ENT issues 🤗
- 15th wedding anniversary in the beautiful Lourmarin ❤️
- hit 100kg 😬🫣
- met more independent researchers
In progress now:
- Scikit-learn course as it has a lot of cross over with the Machine Learning module
- Cohere Labs ML-Agents research
- Machine Learning module
- Prep for meetup/conferences in September
- Post-Masters planning (need to earn more soon!!)
- which means light job/opportunity searches
- being active
- strength and mobility
What’s happening for la rentrée ?
- 7h starts as Clémie has changed school
- Taxi de Papa will start up again!
- The rest is still to be figured out!
What have I (re)learnt:
- mountains are amazing for Sophie and I
- should have taken a day or two off when the kids started the holiday and done something fun together
- a. because it is cool
- b. help us to get on the same page about summer life
- mountains are amazing
- staying in touch with mates and family is soul food
- probably be great to hike a mountain every 6-8 weeks
- I can better handle this heat (still a way to go)
- I like independent research
